If you've taken the time and spent the money to get beautiful photos, you ought to take the time and money to properly display them. This is true, and something I should do more often.

But sometimes I need some prompting. So here's some motivation for you.

Photo books are a great way of displaying photos. I finished the photo book for John and Jill last month (see the Visit from the Germans series of posts), and it turned out beautifully! Photo covers are my favorite. Doesn't that make you want to see your photos printed in a book?

I have never gotten a case for one before, but this makes me want to. I love the plum purple that they picked out. Isn't it lovely? And it looks so nice with the book.

Here's some more motivation: photo books are great for entertaining, whether guests, yourself, or even your kids.

Marie loves photo books. The other day when I asked if she wanted to eat, she kept saying "books, books," in reference to ours, rather than "eat, eat" - so you know she loves them. Only when I showed her an orange did she leave the shelf in the living room for the plate in the kitchen.

Jill, who is a great and incredibly patient client, urged me to take some pictures of the book before I delivered it.

Marie seemed very happy to have a new book to look at. She even found Miss Jill when I asked her where she was.

She looked at it at least three times before she was ready to be done.

Lifestyle images, documenting your daily happenings, as opposed to posed, studio-type images, make great photo books. I enjoyed the combination of both for this book.

This was the first time I've been commissioned to put together a photo book for someone else, though I've made plenty for family, and I am so pleased with how it turned out! Also, John and Jill loved it, and happy clients make happy photographers!

I thought that Jill picked the perfect photo for the back cover.

This was such a fun project. I'd love to do more. What could you make into a photo book?
